Shyrlene Ball Riley, 62, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at her home in Mt. Hermon.

Born on July 29, 1951, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Franklinton, but currently attended Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church.

Shyrlene loved attending sporting events of all types, from Mt. Hermon High School to even little league games of all types. She also enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Riley, a daughter and son-in-law, Fran and John Crouch, and a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Dawn Riley, all of Mt. Hermon; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Riley of Mt. Hermon; six granddaughters, Chasity and Chelsey Sharp, Casey Sharp Gonzales, Crystal and Cathy Crouch, and Nicole Riley, all of Mt. Hermon; two great-grandsons, Nicholas “Nick” Schilling and Eathan Smith, both of Mt. Hermon; one great-granddaughter, Mariana Gonzales of Mt. Hermon; a special friend/grandson, Devin Oalmann; special grandsons-in-law, Joseph Smith, Austin Schilling and Mel Gonzales; one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Joe Leburn of Crowley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dillard and Sandra Ball of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Jerry and Ruby Ball of Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin Ball and Alice Dillon Ball; a son, Gary Daniel Cooper; a grandson, Aaron Riley; and a nephew, Mark Durden.

Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 17 at Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 2 p.m., with Bro. Randall Garcia, Bro. Raymond Garcia and Bro. Stan Statham officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Devin Oalmann, John Crouch, Mel Gonzales, Austin Schilling, Joseph Smith, Ryan Schilling and Chris Tetreau.
