Ingleside Literary Society meets, reviews Drew Brees’ book ‘Coming Back Stronger’

President Janice Goff called the meeting to order and thanked Yvonne Griffith for being hostess and her choice for program. Minutes, courtesy of Janice Goff, were read by Secretary Donna Lee Trooskin and were accepted as read.
Glenda Givens led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Brenda Coleman led the Club Collect. Members announced themselves by giving the name of a sports personality or favorate sport. A brief citizenship report was given by Cynthia McGehee.
The discussion of “Coming Back Stronger” by Drew Brees centered mostly around his mastery of adversity and becoming stronger because of it. His sincereity and deep faith were also noted.
In old business, members approved the selection of a book to donate to the Bogalusa Library in Mary Louise Levy’s name.
In new business, members voted for a book report format for next year and program choices will be presented at the April meeting. Members were asked to indicate who was willing to hostess, or present the program, or both for next year. The treasury report was given and Jean Cargill paid dues.
Poet Brenda Coleman read “Legend of Valentines” by Helen Steiner Rice. Sue Carhart read a devotion, “Gift of God,” by Joanne Fuchs.
Members attending were Katherine Bayard, Cargill, Carhart, Coleman, Givens, Goff, Griffith, Peggy Huddle-ston, Ann Martin, McGehee, Jo Porter and Trooskin.
