Ag competition winners announced

Local students competed Jan. 23 in small engine, welding and electrical competitions at Northshore Technical Community College, Sullivan Campus, and the winners have been announced.
The District 12 competition saw participation from high schools throughout Washington and St. Tammany parishes, with school agriculture programs sending teams in the different areas of competition.
Students completed hands-on and written tests, and the top teams in each competition went on to the Area IV FFA Career Development Event, held this week in Baton Rouge.
Winners in the district electrical competition were, first place, Parker Bahm, Franklinton High School; second place, Noah Spears, Franklinton High; third place, Kalie Stephens, Franklinton High; and fourth place, Dylan Davis, Pearl River High.
Varnado High students Kamerhon Moses and Dominique Harry placed first in the small engine competition. Other winners were Allen Rodgers and Austin Hartzog, Varnado High, second place; Mack McElveen and Brett Carden, Franklinton High, third place; and Codie O’Keefe and Hunter Cooper, Pine High, fourth place.
Those placing in the welding competition were, Kyle Simeon, Fontainebleau High, first; Alex Trox, Fontainebleau High, second; and Colt Clemons, Covington High, third.
