During a 2 p.m. briefing at the Washington Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, President Richard Thomas reported that he had signed an emergency order this morning.

He said all parish government offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, but a skeleton crew will remain to respond to any problems. The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies will also be out doing patrols.

Parish bridges had been sanded Friday, and parish crews were out checking those today and adding sand where necessary, Thomas said.
