TAYLOR

Lawrence Taylor Jr., 90, was called home on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Riverside Medical Center.

Born Nov. 25, 1923, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Otis Burris Post 537. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Christine Taylor of Franklinton; two sons, Craig Taylor and Wilson Taylor both of Franklinton; one daughter, Winifred Bickham of Franklinton; one sister, Cora Dean Straughter of St. Rose; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Della Taylor; two sons, Emerson Taylor and Vern Taylor; two daughters, Angela Taylor and Gwendolyn Taylor Berry; five brothers, Melvin Taylor, Sylvest Taylor, Alcus Taylor, Wyley Taylor and Nelson Taylor; and three sisters, Evie Martin, Eloise Lott and Georgie Jackson.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 24 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 2-5 p.m., followed by a family hour from 5-6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Winan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. La’Sheena Simmons, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Sweet Home Cemetery.
