DYSON

Craig Edward Dyson, 60, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at his home in Franklinton.

He was born in Washington Parish on Sept. 5, 1953, to West Silas Dyson Sr. and Gladys Mae Dyson. He joined Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized. He graduated from Washington Parish High School in 1973. He joined the Navy immediately after graduation where he served 10 years.

His father and one brother, Bobby John Dyson, preceded him in death.

Craig leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Gladys Mae Dyson of Northridge, Calif.; two brothers, West Silas (Dollie) Dyson Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., and Arthur Washington of Covington; three sisters, Gwen Slaughter of Northridge, Janet Warren of Pineville and Gladys Rentie of Long Beach, Calif.; one aunt, Yvonne Brice of Bogalusa; five nieces, Demetria Washington of Northridge, Kandace (Tim) Scott of Anchorage, Alaska, Ashley (Jamison) Garrett of Folsom, Angela (Tony) Dural of Woodbridge, Va., and Laura Hart of Long Beach; five nephews, Romaro Washington of New Orleans, David Garrett III of Pineville, Johnathon Warren of Franklinton, Lonnie Hart Jr. of Long Beach and Chance Washington of Baton Rouge; a special sister-in-law, Janice Washington; four great-nieces; and eight great-nephews; and many cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, with the Rev. Terrance August officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
