Mary Jane “Mother” Moses Youngblood, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Jo Ellen Smith Convalescent Center in New Orleans.
She was born in Varnado on Aug. 16, 1926, to Arcell Moses and Mary Weary Moses.
Her everlasting memories will be cherished by those who loved her: her children, Chancy (Eva) Youngblood of Columbia, Miss., Emanuel Youngblood of Killeen, Texas, Melody Ann (Henry) Bodden of Slidell, Classie Pack, Debra Ann Williams, Myrtis Nell, Andrew Charles and Landry Youngblood, Frank Edward (Rosemary), Josie Mae, Genneral (Lisa), Jelthro (Ingra) and Antoine Moses, all of New Orleans; her siblings, Samuel Moses of Varnado and Ms. Lou Henry Banks of Stockbridge, Ga.; 35 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Youngblood; a son, Willie Eugene Youngblood; three grandchildren, Rickey O’Neal Youngblood, Robert Earl Rayford and Tamika Michelle Moses; her parents; her siblings, William, A.C. and Mack Moses, Selena Jefferson, Wilma Collins, Eliza Denny, Elizabeth Youngblood, Marcella Barnes and Catherine Boone.
Family and friends are invited to attend her service at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip St. in New Orleans, with visitation at 8 a.m.
Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery in Varnado.
