Nezzie Martin Turner, 86, passed away, with her family by her side, on Friday, Jan. 11, 2014, in her home in Mandeville.

She was born on March 26, 1927, and was a resident of the Pine community for many years before residing in Bogalusa. She was a member of Pettit Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Sherman, Katherine (Anthony) Peters and Karen (Derrwin) Talley; two sons, Jimmy (Gloria) Turner and Timmy (Caletta) Turner; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hezzie Martin and Shelby (Barbara) Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Turner; her parents, Ollie and Aletha Martin; two brothers, D.L. Matin and Douglas Martin; a son-in-law Millard A. Sherman; and four grandsons.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tommy Varnado officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
