Henrietta Bercegay Pierre, 82, a resident of Franklinton, died at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Denham Springs.
Born Aug. 13, 1931, she was a former longtime resident of Husser, She enjoyed going to garage sales, she loved dancing to all types of music and always had a fun-loving personality. She was always a loving wife and mother who most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Pierre Hutton and Mark Hutton of Denham Springs and Ida LaKay Pierre-Mattox and Aaron Mattox of Perkinston, Miss.; a son, Oather Pierre Jr. of Monroeville, Ala.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Cureington, Rebecca Danielle Cureington, Jelena Ann Cureington, Steven Matthew Gill, Daniel Thomas Hutton and Ethan Wade Hutton, who is currently deployed to Afghanistan; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oather “O.J.” Pierre Sr.; her parents, Henry Rainey Bercegay and Ida Lee Bercegay; two sisters and eight brothers; a daughter-in-law, Karen Brooks Pierre; and a great-granddaughter, Viola Elizabeth Brooks.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton from 6-9 p.m., and will continue on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Rainey Cemetery in Folsom.
