RIVERA

Peggy McDonald Rivera, 66, a resident of Lincoln, Calif., died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Bogalusa on Sept. 7, 1947, Peggy spent most of her life like that — surrounded by family and friends. She left Bogalusa as a young woman and spent many years pursuing her passion for music on stages from California to Japan. She made lasting friendships wherever she went. Peggy was always a giver, and her loved ones remember how often she went out of her way to help others. It was, in part, her passion for life that fueled such generosity, and that passion, paired with her outgoing, charismatic personality, drew people to her. She will be long remembered and sadly missed.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Bernie Rivera; her son, Jacen Rivera; her beloved mother, Mamie Thomas McDonald; her siblings, Edward McDonald, Dianne Muchow, Deborah Rodish and Dale McDonald; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bera “Bill” McDonald.

A memorial service will be held in Lincoln.
