MAGEE

Gladys Chappell Magee passed away at the age of 80 on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

Born Dec. 1, 1933, she taught school for the Washington Parish School System for 34 years, making a difference in many children’s lives.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Ann (Prentice) Cuffee of Franklinton; two sisters, Mary Ausama and Luberta (Silas) Partman of Franklinton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Magee Sr.; her parents, Leander and Jessie Bell Chappell; one son, Woody Magee Jr.; one brother, Major Chappell; one sister, Hilda Lee Lewis; and one daughter-in-law, Gwen Magee.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 3 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 2-5 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Winan United Methodist Church, with Pastor La’Sheena Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Winan Cemetery.
