SIMMONS

Richard “R. B” Simmons, 75 passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at his residence in Bogalusa. He was born on March 30, 1938.

He is survived by three daughters, Shellie Simmons and Sha Simmons Hand “Tony,” both of Bogalusa, and Shann Simmons “Jennifer” of Covington; two sisters, Lucille Smith of Bogalusa and Ruth Miller of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shana Patterson; his parents, Willie and Mary Simmons; a brother, Jr. Simmons; and four sisters, Christine Sellier, Betty Joyce Simmons, Bonnie Lou Simmons and Willene Simmons.

Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 7 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 4-10 p.m., and will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time for services at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Fred Brumfield and the Rev. Don Miley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Magic City Post 24 of Bogalusa.
