Martha “Margain” Thomas Tynes passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at her home in Covington. She was born in Pine on Dec. 16, 1936, to MacCauley “Buck” and Dorethea Cooper Thomas. She moved to Covington in 1982.
The beloved wife of Loyd T. Tynes for 59 years, she is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Tynes Carrier and Amy Tynes Danna; one brother, Mack Thomas; three sisters, Alberta Kennedy, Lucille Thomas and Ruth Thomas; three grandchildren, Justin and Leah Beth Carrier and Scott Danna; and one great-grandson, Andrew Carrier.
Her parents and three brothers, J.M., Berkley and Dalton Thomas, preceded her in death.
Margain retired after 37 years of service as a supervisor from the business office at South Central Bell. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Covington and volunteered tirelessly at the Habitat store in West St. Tammany for many years after her retirement.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Highway 1085. The funeral service will begin at noon, with lunch immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment at Crain Cemetery near Stateline will take place at 3 p.m.
