Mildred D. Alford

Mildred D. Alford, a resident of Baton Rouge and a home-maker; she departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 85 and a native of Mississippi.
She is survived by her children, Mickey Clydelia Douglas of Baton Rouge, La. and John R. Douglas and wife Cheryl of Bogalusa, La.; granddaughter and her family, Robyn Stephens and husband Buddy, and children, Lauren, Julianna and Rebekah of Meridian, Miss.; and grandson and his family, Billy Douglas and wife Rubby and daughter, Catherine of Walker, La.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 1/2 years, Farrell O. Alford; first husband of 22 years, John N. Douglas; parents, A.L. and Clydie Davis; brother, John Paul Davis; sister, Maudrine Kennedy; and her stepmother, Corene Davis.
She was an active member, until her illness, of Sherwood Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Mrs. Alford loved painting landscapes, bird watching, reading, flowers and especially her dog, Hersey.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. conducted by Dr. David Womack and Rev. Valton Douglas. Pallbearers will be Craig Blount, Billy Douglas, James Fornea, Ronald Sandifer, Buddy Stephens, and Bobby Wade. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
