Christmas displays, lights going up in city

Halloween and Fall Fes tival time are now over for another year, and although Thanksgiving is still on the horizon, it’s be ginning to look like Christmas in Bogalusa.
That’s at least partly because the local Christmas celebrations begin with the Parade of Lights, which goes through the city and Cassidy Park to open Christmas in the Park on Thanksgiving night.
The transformation of the city’s signature green space into a magical winter wonderland complete with hundreds of solemn or whim sical displays bearing millions of colored lights takes some time.
Crews started working on the set up last week, and although some people have complained that the back gates are now closed to drive through traffic, officials have said that’s necessary to enable workers to complete the job.
Meanwhile the folks spotted walking through the area in the chill of Thursday morning had smiles on their faces as they looked upon men testing lights, erecting and hanging displays and delivering the first Yule logs.
