Pine homecoming festivities this week

Pine School is holding homecoming festivities this week, culminating with Friday night’s homecoming football game.

The homecoming parade will depart Pine School at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, proceed to Pine Cash and return to the school. Immediately following the parade the school will host a bonfire in the student parking lot.

The homecoming court presentation and crowning of the queen will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Immediately following the homecoming presentation, all senior football players and support group members will be honored.

Kickoff for the game is at 7 p.m.

Grand marshals for 2013 Homecoming Parade are all members of the 1968-69 Pine School football team, coaching staff and cheerleaders. They were the first Pine High School football team to advance to the playoffs.

Team members included Jew Adams, Eugene Martin, Wayne Jenkins, Kenneth Jenkins, Charles Ard, Ricky Crain, Roy Temples, Rodney Nobles, Edward Penton, Hershel Creel, Millard Gunnell, Jimmy Toney, Roger Stephens, Darryl Miley, Harvey Stuart, Billy Breland, Greg Nobles, Ricky Branch, Mike Pace, Randy Crain, Glyn Passman, Sidney Taylor and Gerald McDonald.

Members of the team who are deceased include Bruce Kemp, Hardy Thomas, Roger McDonald, Randal Kemp, Mike Hopgood, Galmarie Jenkins and coach Glenn Daughtrey. Also being honored are Silas Kennedy, former principal, and Billy Knight, assistant coach.

Cheerleaders included Loretta Lang Stewart, Brenda Terrell Martin, Patsy Terrell Ritchie, Ann Pope Riley, Brenda Thomas Hartzog, Vickie Pope, Audrey Thomas, Valerie Brumfield and the late Ronna Martin.

The team will also be honored at halftime of Friday night’s homecoming game.
