WADDELL

Helen Louise Waddell, 90, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at her home in Franklinton.

Born Jan. 8, 1923, Helen was a native of Kansas but retired to this area nearly 30 years ago. She attended the Wichita Business School and throughout her life she enjoyed reading. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where she was a member of the Merry Hearts. She was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star and Waverly Club and was a proud member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. A musical person, Helen played the piano and often sang, but she also enjoyed dancing with her loving husband. She was forever a caring wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Keith Waddell of Franklinton; one daughter, Kay Waddell of Mandeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Jan Waddell, Gregg and Laurie Waddell and Douglas and Melanie Waddell, all of Mandeville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Stanley Counts of San Diego; and a brother, Robert Heft of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Her parents, Waldo Arthur Heft and Jessie Ruth Weathers Heft, and a brother, Jack Heft, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 24 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., when the Rev. Paul Watts and the Rev. Dale Parker will officiate the funeral service in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
