Members of Central Memorial High School’s Class of 1969 took their former teachers to dinner recently to Western Sizzlin Steak House in Bogalusa. According to organizers, class members just wanted to “show them we still love and appreciate them.” Teachers who could not attend were given a small token of appreciation delivered to their home by several classmates.

Each year, the class gives four or five scholarships, each for $500, to graduating seniors. As a group, members attend church every other month and do other community services, including assisting a group call to Sunset Corp. in giving school supplies and helping give the Avenue U YMCA building a facelift with help of donations from the community. The class meets every first Saturday of the month and encourages other classes to reach out to the community and help wherever they can.
