IMES

And while she calmly slept, on Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2013, at 10:43 a.m., God called Ellen Peters Imes home in Clinton, N.C. She smiled and said, “I am ready Lord,” and ventured therein.

She leaves to remember her life and love, her husband of 22 years, the Rev. Willie E. Imes of Clinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Pamela Tyner of North Brunswick, N.J.; two daughters, Adrian T. Johnson of Plainsboro, N.J. and Tracy J. Tyner; her mother-in-law, Lillian Imes of Harrells, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Deacon William and Catherine Peters of Gretna; a grandson and great-grandson that she reared, Christopher J. Arnold Sr. of Helmetta, N.J., and Christopher J. Arnold Jr. Bridgewater, N.J.; six sisters-in-law, Irene Peters of Bogalusa, Annie Brothers of Harrells, Leola Peters of Gretna, Hilda Peters and Carolyn Peters, both of Elkhart, Ind., and Verlene (Ricky) Lalta of Palm Bay, Fla.; five brothers-in-law, Floyd Owens Sr. of Bogalusa, Frankie (Jahalia) Imes of Clinton, Larry and Arthur Imes, both of Ivanhoe, N.C., and Harris Imes of Jersey City, N.J.; four grandsons, Skyler, Tyler, James and Trenell; four granddaughters, Crystal, Courtney, Monea and Audrianna; 10 stepchildren, Byron Sr., SFC Tommie Earl, Jermaine, Jason, Francis, Syretta, William, Marcus, Ashley and Inez; some very special nieces, Christa Owens-O’Ree, Deidra Y. Owens, Janet T. Cotton and Valerie. V. Cotton; a beloved godmother, Mattie Rose Gilford of Clinton; two goddaughters, Beverly Dortch, Plainsboro and Samantha Reddick of Trenton, N.J.; cousins of love, Delia Myles Morris of Las Vegas and Earl Wilson of Somerset, N.J.

She is also survived by special lifetime friends, Florria Little and Bettie Greene of New Brunswick, N.J., Gilda Bolton of California, and Linda Kay Magee, Yolanda Robertson Washington, Shonda Gutter Causey, Bertha Whittene and Rhoda Bridges, all of Bogalusa.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 3-6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims officiating. Interment will follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
