The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday that a man who was listed on its website’s Most Wanted page, and who has been the subject of two intense manhunts involving WPSO deputies and Rayburn Correctional Center canine teams, turned himself in on Thursday.

Marcus Lenard Kagler, 40, was wanted for one count of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and three counts of failure to appear.

When asked why he decided to surrender to the Sheriff’s Office, the WPSO reports that Kagler said, “I was tired of running, and I knew you would catch me one day.”

Sheriff Randy Seal said he believes that was a wise decision.

“That was a good choice for him to make because we would have eventually caught him,” he said. “I would recommend that any others on our Most Wanted list do the same thing because we are not going to cease our efforts to find them.”
