BRYANT

James Ray Bryant, 68, a resident of Kentwood, died Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2013, at Kentwood Manor Nursing Home. Born March 1, 1945, he was a 1963 graduate of Franklinton High School and attended Sullivan Vocational School for automotive engineering. He was a former Franklinton police officer and constable of the 9th Ward for 12 years. He will best be remembered as the owner/operator of Bryant’s Auto Parts on Washington Street for more than 25 years and later as a manager of Triple X Auto Parts.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherron D. Riley and Mark Denise Sanders and Blane, all of Kentwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. James W. Bryant and Michelle of Walhalla, S.C.; eight grandchildren and spouses. James M. Bryant, Rebekah F. Bryant, Richard Inkenbrandt and Breann, Taylor Riley, Braxton J. Womack, Preston Womack, Jesse Sanders and Garrett Sanders; one great-grandchild, Braydon Inkenbrandt; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Jean B. Lewis and John A. Lewis and Jill B. Corkern and John, all of Franklinton; one brother and sister-in-law, Randall Harvey Bryant and Kay of Bonifay, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sheila Faye Bryant; his parents, Harvey Matthew and Naomi Dillon Bryant; and a sister, Sherron Elaine Bryant.

Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 26 at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. and continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James Bryant and the Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Haw Pond Cemetery.
