Thomas Library has completed its 2013 Summer Reading Program, with more than 300 people attending the eight summer reading programs.

Each week featured a different performer to entertain the children and parents, starting off with Ronald McDonald and ending with Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery. At the closing program children who read 10 or more books were rewarded with a goody bag filled with coupons from McDonald’s, Pizza Inn of Franklinton and Big’s. Also included were other goodies provided by funds from the Friends of the Washington Parish Library.

This year Thomas Library hosted its first Teen/Tween Summer Read-ing Program, which included a program held on June 18, led by talented art teachers Caron Knight and Kelly Stubbs. The program ended with a Teen Night program of Egyptian Mummies and Urban Legends on July 25. Although the crowd was small, everyone had a good time.

There will be an adult program at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 29. Sally Thomas will be doing a mesh wreath demonstration. Anyone interested in attending should come by the library and pick up a supply list, or find us on Facebook.
