The Washington Parish Council on Aging is seeking businesses or organizations that would like to set up a booth at its annual Resource/Health Fair.
The event will take place Sept. 27 at the Bogalusa Senior Center, and Activity Coordinator April Dupre said booths will be available, free of charge, to businesses or organizations that offer services or screenings to seniors. Informational booths can also be set up, she said.
Providing health screenings to seniors is a major focus of the event, with glucose and blood pressure checks among the ones offered, Dupre said. While a flu shot provider is already in place, she said she is looking for a business to offer eye screenings and information on fall prevention and balance.
People who provide a booth would be helping the senior citizens of their community, Dupre said.
Dupre said the fair, held every September, has grown each of the past few years it has been held.
Seniors from each of the four nutrition sites attend, and transportation is provided, Dupre said. She plans to stagger the times the different centers visit this year so everyone will have more space to move around, she said.
There are typically at least 25 booths, Dupre said, including such businesses as home health agencies.
Attendees leave with goodies and a bagged lunch to eat after the fair, Dupre said.
To reserve a booth, call Dupre at 839-4535 by the end of August. She asks that those interested call as soon as possible because space fills up quickly.
