MORGAN

The Lord called his faithful servant, Dr. Andrew Thomas Morgan, home to his eternal rest on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 11:40 a.m.

He was born in Princeton, Fla., on Oct. 29, 1934. His family later settled in Funston, Ga. He graduated from Moultrie High School and went on to earn a Doctorate of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Helen Jane Melton Morgan; his children, Jenny Lynn Morgan Rogers and husband Johnny Rogers; Andrew Charles Morgan and wife, Dawn Kimble Morgan, Janet Carol Morgan Kayvani and Judy Helen Morgan Prince; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind a sister, Dorothy Morgan Snodgrass; two brothers, Carl Morgan and wife Lois, and Billy Ray Morgan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include Mary Ellen Melton Gaines, Calvin and Sandra Melton Croy, Larry and Barbara Melton and Tim and Frieda Melton Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews.

His parents, Rupert and Eloise Hawkins Morgan; a brother, David Morgan; and a sister, Betty Sue Morgan Gaines, preceded him in death.

For 62 years he pastored churches in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, always faithfully serving the Lord. His desire was to see people come to saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held Wednesday July 24 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral from 6-9 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Thursday at Springhill Baptist Church in Franklinton from 12:30 p.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Huey Moak, the Rev. Billy Galloway, the Rev. Stan Statham and Dr. Johnny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Gideons for the purchase of Bibles to spread the Word of God.
