IKERD

Shirley Gail Ikerd, 67, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was a resident of Bogalusa and a native of Varnado, born Sept. 16, 1945.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas “Mickey” Ikerd of Bogalusa; one son, Michael (Crystal) Ikerd of Kodak, Tenn.; one sister, Bobbie Fornea (David) Cothern of Jayess, Miss.; four brothers, Lloyd (Gloria) Fornea of Franklinton, Eugene Fornea of Sandy Hook, Miss., Freddie (Gayla) Fornea of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Terry (Irene) Fornea of Foxworth, Miss.; five grandchildren, Joshua Ikerd, Douglas Ikerd Jr., Tabitha Ikerd, Spencer Ikerd and Nathan Ikerd; a special aunt, Joyce (Billy) Creel of Franklinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Willis Fornea and Ada Mae Owens Fornea, and one brother, J.W. Fornea Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 17 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Joseph Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Sun Baptist Church Cemetery.
