Knights of Columbus recognizes outstanding high school grads

The Knights of Columbus, Council 1819, honored five outstanding high school graduates on June 30 at Annunciation Catholic Church.

Each graduate was presented a personalized Crucifix, along with a plaque, a Bible and a stipend.

The recipient of the Richard Engerran Scholarship is Matthew Hughes, the son of Bubba and Venice Hughes, and the grandson of Mrs. Sylvia Hughes.

Hughes is a graduate of Annunciation Catholic School and Franklinton High School. He also is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The two Outstanding Catholic Graduates are Thu Hung (Heather) Thi Nguyen and Madison Robert.

Nguyen is the daughter of Em and Jenny Nguyen. She attended Annunciation Catholic School and is a graduate of St. Scholastica Academy.

Robert is the daughter of Tommy and Kelli Robert, and the granddaughter of Robert and Kay Robert and Rawlin and Lani Williams. She is a graduate of Annunciation Catholic School and St. Scholastica Academy.

Runners-up for the Outstanding Catholic Graduate are Sam Drummond and John Michael Lomzenki.

Drummond is the son of Teddy and Judy Drummond and the grandson of Mrs. Jean Moss. He is a graduate of Annunciation Catholic School and St. Paul’s Academy.

Lomzenski is the son of Eleanor Barker Lomzenski and John Lomzenski, and the grandson of Ellie Barker and Theresa Lomzenski. He is a graduate of Annunciation Catholic School and St. Paul’s Academy.
