Christian Mizell, a student at Varnado High School, has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy.

Mizell was nominated for the award by counselor Rhonda Gunnell, and his name will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, students recognized as All-American Scholars should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr. George Stevens, founder of the United States Achievement Academy, which selects scholars based on their exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors.

Mizell is the son of Krystal Mizell and Christopher Mizell of Bogalusa.

His grandparents are Gordon and Patricia Russell of Slidell, Richard and Georgiana Mizell of Slidell and Marjorie and Emmett Martin of Picayune, Miss.
