Miss Dittmer, Area exchange vows in evening ceremony

Miss Alexandra Dawn Dittmer and Mr. Leandro Ryan Area were married on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at six o’clock in the evening on the Great Lawn at Houmas House Plantation on the Mississippi River. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brewster Dittmer II of Mandeville. The groom is the son of Dr. Leandro C. Area and Ms. Victoria Ryan of New Orleans.

Judge Robert J. Black officiated the ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory gown by Lazaro, which was beaded with platinum embroidered net over champagne silk, with a matching chapel length veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of English garden flowers.

McKenna Claire Mehle and Cynthia Cally Rosenblum, lifelong best friends of the bride, attended the bride as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Jordan Eve Lipari, cousin of the bride, Emily Louise Dennis, Danielle Marie Meeks, Megan DeMartini, Sarah Lynn DeThomasis and Lauren Nicole Fortson.

The groom’s brother, Corey Christopher Area, travelled to the wedding from Queensland, Australia, where he is attending medical school, to be his best man.

Groomsmen were Fabian Martin Nehrbass, Raleigh Joseph Wolfe, Phillip Webb Smith, Robert Boyne Smith, Laurence Donnelly LeSueur Jr., Gordon Page Guthrie III and Phillip Kent Broderick.

Ushers for the ceremony were Harrison Reed Bell and Thomas Michael DeLellis.

A reception followed the ceremony in the Fountain Courtyard of the mansion and thereafter in the Pavilion at Houmas House.

The bride, whose mother is known professionally as Judge Dawn Amacker, graduated from St. Scholastica Academy and the University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

While at college, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Amacker and the late Alice Corkern Amacker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brewster Dittmer, all of Bogalusa.

The groom graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and Louisiana State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leandro M. Area of Miami and the late Mr. and Mrs. James J. Ryan of Mandeville.

The couple met while attending LSU Law School, from which they both graduated with Juris Doctorate degrees. Mrs. Area is employed as an associate attorney with her father’s law firm, Talley, Anthony, Hughes & Knight in Mandeville. Mr. Area is employed as an associate attorney with the Truitt Law Firm in Covington.

A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents on the evening before the wedding at the Napoleon House in the French Quarter.

On Easter Sunday, the morning after the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a family brunch at Café Amelie in New Orleans.

After a honeymoon trip to Big Sur and the Napa Valley, the couple returned to reside in Old Metairie and plan to move to the Northshore in the fall.
