CORKERN

Thomas Earl “Tom” Corkern, 67, died at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his home in Enon.

Born June 20, 1945, he loved farming and flying his airplane. He taught computer technology in the late 1960s and 1970s at the Vocational School and was an Air Force veteran having served in the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Bedwell Corkern of Enon; one daughter, Kasey Lynn Pack of Ohio; one son, Thomas Darwin Corkern of Baton Rouge; his mother, Golda Corkern Johnson of Franklinton; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Janice Magee, Lyndon Magee of Pine, Fred and Susan Magee of Walker, Bobby Ray Magee of Port Vincent, Tim and Robyn Magee of Prairieville and JoAnn Caporale of Bossier City; ad a brother and sister-in-law, James Lester “Jimmy” and Dorothy Corkern of Enon.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Corkern, and his stepfather, Harold “Jiggs” Johnson.

Visitation was held Monday, May 13 at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m., and continued on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Fredrick Brumfield and the Rev. Pete Bennett officiating. Burial followed in the Isabel Church Cemetery.
