BARBER

Dora Mae Davis Barber, 76, a resident of Franklinton, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday May 7, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was born on Feb. 12, 1937, as was a former longtime employee of the Washington Parish School Board. She worked for many years as a cafeteria worker at Franklinton Elementary and Franklinton Primary School. She enjoyed working in her flower bed and tending to her flowers. She was always a loving wife and caretaker to her late husband. She was also a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by four daughters, Susan Barber, Sandra (Billy) Callihan, Theresa (Michael) Dufrene and Sheila (Daniel W. Sr.) Bosch, all of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Stuart (Marie) Varnado, Kyle (Leslie) Varnado, Tracy Hughes, Amber Brumfield, Stephanie (Louis) Maillet, Amanda Dufrene and Daniel W. Bosch Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Faye (George) Brock of Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Vance E. (Faye) Davis of Clifton Forge, Va.; a sister-in-law, Flora Phillips of Tylertown, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Harvey Houston Barber, her mother, Susie Davis and a brother, Jewell Phillips, preceded her in death.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 9 at Crain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial followed in the Stateline United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Stuart Varnado, Kyle Varnado, Daniel W. Bosch Sr., Daniel W. Bosch Jr., Michael Dufrene and Billy Callihan.
