STUART

James Douglas Stuart, 86, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home in Pine. Born Dec. 8, 1926, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and an electrician early in life. He was a longtime member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained into the ministry in April of 1964. He spent the next 48 years of his life devoted to Christian ministry, while serving at numerous local churches. He was also a Master Mason and member of the Pine Masonic Lodge 264.

He enjoyed traveling and loved the Western United States, which led to his hobby of growing cacti at his home. He also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and was always a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Hembree Stuart of Pine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Deborah Stuart of Denham Springs, and Milton Stuart and Glen and Lana Stuart, all of Pine; two daughters, Jackie Williams of Franklinton and Judith Lang of Pine; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Sheila Bourgeois, Danny Stuart, Carey and Vance Lane, Jessica and Jimmy Aucoin, Kayla and Billy Sabel, Tracie and Michael Stroud, Cara Williams, Amanda and Corey Stephens, Dana and Rod Graham and Bobby Caputo; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Gerald Wood of Pine and Bernice and Roy Hartfield of Purvis, Miss; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Stuart and Geneva Lewis Stuart; grandchildren, Buffy Stuart and Shane Stuart; sons-in-law, Russell Williams and Bernard Lang; and three brothers, Lavon Stuart, Cecil Stuart and Edward “Pete” Stuart

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 30 at Pine Missionary Baptist Church from 6-9 p.m., and continues on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m., Elder Brent King, Elder Mike Stuart, Elder Glen Stuart and Elder Willie J. Passman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kevin Garner, David McNeese, Walter Guchereau, Everett Verret, Gary Stuart and Roy Hartfield Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Cunningham, Danny Stuart, Stuart Hartfield.
