BUTLER

Velma Butler Morris departed this life Monday, April 22, 2013.

She was born May 8, 1925 in Peoria, Miss., to the union of Aaron and Ella Butler. She was the last of 15 children — six boys and eight girls — all of whom preceded her in death. Velma moved to Bogalusa at an early age and she became a devoted wife and mother to more children than she gave birth to.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Helen Robinson-Roberson; a son, Danny Morris; seven grandchildren, Evelyn Robertson, Emelda Mingo, Saadiqa (Jeffery) Ali, Deidre Robinson, Jeffery (Claretta) Ramsey, Donald Robinson, Michelle Robinson; five children she reared, Errica Shreve, Tenitha Ramsey, Tabatha (Brian) Hart, Krystal Ramsey and Shala Miller; two special grandsons, Renard and Kelvin Drummond; 11 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was her loving husband, L.J. Morris; a daughter, Minnie Mae Ramsey; a granddaughter, Rosa Lee Ramsey; and a grandson, Shelby Ramsey.

Visitation will be Monday, April 29 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Bogalusa, with the Rev.
