Plans for the annual art show and sale was the main topic of business as members of the Washington Art Association met on March 18 at the home of Lora Lynn Fendlason in Bogalusa, with Katie Lee and Louise Barber as co-hosts.

The meeting was conducted by President Reba Sanspree. Christine Beatty had the food list for member participation and asked that those who chose not to bring food to bring $20 to offset expenses. The group agreed to pay Cindy Nicholas for hanging the show and also to pay one person to man the kitchen during the show and sale. Beatty said she had purchased wine glasses for the art association to have for future shows.

Members were advised to have their artwork at the home of Sara Nelson in Clifton by 2 p.m. on Wednesday before the show. It was also announced that a banner would be in place at the home and parking signs would be posted. The very successful art show and sale was held Saturday, March 23.

Terry Seal read correspondence from the Washington Parish Library thanking the association for the donations of books in memory of deceased members Pam Miller and Marion Rollins.

Seal also told about the children’s art show and contest to be held at the Varnado Museum in April. The museum was asking for sponsorship from businesses, clubs, associations, etc., for cash prizes for the children.

Three categories were planned, with prizes of $50, $25 and $15 with a cash prize of $100 to the first place winner’s school. The levels of donation requested were gold $100, silver $50 and bronze $25. The group agreed to donate $100 for the show.

Following the meeting, a meal of casseroles, salad and strawberry shortcake was served by the hostesses. Those attending included Barber and guest, Loretta; Sanspree, Willard Harrell, Janice Branch, Peter Gard, Seal, Lee, Kaye Williams, Cathy Robbins, Fendlason and guest, Jane Whitney; Chris Bradford, Sara Nelson, Janis Fisher, Lenora Frasier, Beatty and Jeanne Green.
