Founders Federal Credit Union President and CEO Bruce Brumfield, a native of Bogalusa, has received the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor.

Sen. Greg Gregory presented Brumfield the award April 9, on behalf of Gov. Nikki Haley.

Reading a letter from Haley, Gregory acknowledged Brumfield’s dedication to empowering and improving the lives of citizens in South Carolina and commended him on his unwavering commitment to service.

Brumfield has a 25-year career with Founders Federal Credit Union and has served as president and CEO since 2003.

Since that time he has grown the credit union to the largest in South Carolina and one of the most successful in the nation with $1.6 billion in assets, 24 offices and more than 185,000 members.

First awarded in 1971 by Gov. John West, the Order of the Palmetto is a once-in-a-lifetime award honoring extraordinary lifetime achievement and service to the state and nation.
