BRUMFIELD

Alton Albert Brumfield, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.

He was proud to be one of the first Black Marines to serve from the Louisiana.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Gwendolyn Bibbins of New Orleans; one brother, Oliver Brumfield of Palo Alto, Calif.; one sister, Johnnie Beatrice Brumfield Riley of New Orleans; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Rosa Brumfield Sr.; his wife, Lucille Willis Brumfield; two brothers, Shadrach Brumfield and Roosevelt Brumfield Jr.; and two grandchildren, Kenneth Bibbins Sr. and Anthony Bibbins Sr.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 15 at Crain & Sons Funeral Home from 2-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon at Sweet Home Church. Interment will follow in the Sweet Home Church Cemetery. Please sign the guestbook at www.crainandsons.com.
