ISHOLA

A native of Angie, Pamela Camelda Foster Ishola made the transition to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 12:25 a.m. at the Hermann Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.

The third oldest of five children, she was born on Nov. 18, 1958. At an early age, She joined the Center Baptist Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Linwood Bolton Sr. She remained a faithful member of the church until adulthood, then moving away to Hammond and New Orleans. In Houston, she was affiliated with and participated in church activities at several churches in the Houston area. Pamela was a giver who loved people and she spent a great deal of her time helping others. She was a volunteer with Catholic Charities in Houston throughout the Katrina peril.

Pamela graduated from Varnado High School in 1977, and Cameron College of New Orleans. She also completed nursing studies at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and Prairie View A & M University in Prairie View, Texas. She worked as a nurse and retired after more than 20 years of service in the profession as an LVN at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Methodist Hospital in Houston. She served as president of the Harris County Hospital District Board from 2007 until 2011.

Pamela did not have any birth children. She leaves to mourn, her father, Cleotha Smith of Bogalusa; her brother, Eric (Katrina) Smith of Angie; her sisters, Brenda (Aaron Jr.) Thompson of Madison, Miss., and Carolyn (Jerome Sr.) Bolden of Houston; nieces and nephews, Stacey N. Thompson Spicer of Houston, Candace R. Thompson of Nashville, Tenn., Aaron J. Thompson III of Greensboro, N.C. , Statuequa Franklin, Antoine (Jessica) D. Bolden and Jerome A. Bolden Jr., all of Houston, Eric V. Smith of Angie, Shannon (Cheiketa) Smith of Baton Rouge, Sherman (LaToya) Smith, Antwon V. Smith and LaDarrick Smith, all of Angie, Whitney Collins of Bogalusa, Summer Hill of Foxworth, Miss., and Antoyia Nichols of Angie; and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends.

Pamela was preceded in death by her mother, Veola Morris Smith; her brother, Alton Lefon Smith; and her husband, Larry Foster.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9 at Live Oak United Methodist Church in Angie from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Terrence August officiating. Interment will be held at Live Oak Cemetery.
