SUMRALL

Sidney R. Sumrall, 54, a resident of Franklinton was killed in a tragic automobile accident at approximately 10:45 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013. He was born Sept. 26, 1958 and was a veteran who formerly worked as a truck driver and in construction. He was a member of Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, JoAnna Lee Sumral; a son, Russell Dillon Sumrall; his mother, Golda Caves Sumrall; two sisters, Donna Sumrall Sullivan and Jessica Sumrall Goings; a special friend, Myrtis Statham; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Lee Sumrall and John Joseph “Jody” Sumrall; his brother, Gilbert Charles Sumrall; and his father, Jessie “Junior” Sumrall.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 4 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Eld. Glynn Erwin and Eld. Yancey Magee officiating. Burial followed in the Poplarhead Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Resource Bank care of the Sidney Sumrall Memorial Fund or Crain Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.

The family would also like to thank everyone for the phone calls, condolences, thoughts, prayers and participation. Also the family expresses their gratitude to the nurse who willingly administered CPR at the accident site, to Louisiana State Police, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and to all the first-responders for their care and service.

Pallbearers were Shaun Givens, Austin Givens, Jerry Givens, Mitch Redman, Denman Goings and Trent Magee. Honorary pallbearers were Devin Goings, Dudley Sullivan and Scott Brumfield.
