A Bogalusa man is recovering from a major injury, and charges are pending against an Angie woman after the two collided near the intersection of Avenue F and W. 10th Street just before 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Assistant Bogalusa Police Chief Rocky Gerald said it was “a case of an SUV versus a motorcycle.”
Virginia Atchley, 61, was driving a Ford Escape northbound on Avenue F, and Bruce Bidwell, 45, was driving a Yamaha motorcycle southbound on the same roadway when Atchley made a left turn in front of the cyclist, he said.
“She failed to yield and caused the accident,” Gerald said. “He hit her front left side then glanced off and hit another vehicle that was parked lawfully.”
Atchley received minor injuries, and Bidwell’s injuries were severe.
Gerald said the man’s leg was crushed.
Both were transported to LSU Bogalusa Medical Center, and Bidwell was subsequently transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans.
Atchley could be cited in the accident, Gerald said.
