BROWN

Mavine Brown, 90, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. A native and resident of Bogalusa, she was born Aug. 19, 1922.

She is survived by two daughters, Myrtle Lou (Jimmy) Givens of Orange, Texas, and Cheryl (Jimmy) Houston of Baton Rouge; one son, Thomas H. Brown IV of Oscar; two sisters, Carrie (Hoyle) Griffin and Winnie Ruth Byrd, both of Bogalusa; six grandchildren, Dr. Jay (Lucy) Givens of Plainview, Texas, Jill (Todd) Langston of Lumberton, Texas, Joy (Trey) Assunto of Lumberton, Cherrie (Matthew) Huerkamp of Martin, Miss., and Monica Brown and James T. Houston Jr., both of Baton Rouge; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Brown III; her parents, Asa Morgan and Carrie Dykes Morgan; a sister, Christine Camp; and a brother, James Quincy Morgan.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 26 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Dr. Jay Givens and the Rev. Jimmy Byrd officiating. Interment followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were James T. Houston Jr., Todd Langston, Trey Assunto, Matthew Huerkamp, Jimmy Byrd and Eddie Byrd.
