Lucy Laverne Burch, 87, a longtime resident of Tylertown, Miss., died at 12:23 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.

Born July 25, 1925, she was a longtime member of Star Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a godly woman who often read and studied her Bible. She and her husband were dairy farmers before retiring to travel together and be with friends. They visited every state in the continental U.S. and even parts of Canada. She was a very special, loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by two sisters, Audrey Thomas of Thomas and Saralyn Spears of Franklinton; two nieces, Tita Taylor and Gwen Jones; four nephews, Craig Wilkins, Chuck Thomas, Mike Spears and Don Spears; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Burch; her parents, Otto and Ara Dillon; and brothers-in-law, Pete Thomas and D.C. Spears.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 19 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Eld. Lavon Taylor and Rev. Tony Hicks officiating. Burial followed in the Star Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Don Spears, Mike Spears, Craig Wilkins, Brian Barber and Marvin Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Shep Crawford, Stacey Crawford, Stewart Crawford and Shelby Crawford.
