William Stanford “Stan” Sumrall Sr., born Oct. 29, 1961, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his home in Bogalusa at the age of 51.

Known by many for his special skills as a Firestone tire salesman, Stan took his gift and love of being a salesman from his father. He won several awards through the years selling tires, but his proudest accomplishments included being named GCR Firestone salesman of the year several times and receiving several awards for sales more than $1,000,000 in a single year.

He is survived by one son, William Stanford Sumrall Jr.; his mother, Willie Mae DeLaughter Sumrall; one sister, Shan Sumrall (Floyd) Miley; two nephews, Ryan (Megan) Miley and Bryan Miley; great nephew and niece, Hunter and Colbi Miley; aunts, Veda D. Jenkins and Carolyn (Kenneth) Barlow; and cousins, Gail DuPont, Craig (Suzanne) McGinnis, Cheri (Tim) Richardson, Theresa Jenkins and Dana (Kelly) Russell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Stanford Sumrall, and his grandparents, Henry Stanford and Lozie Thomas Sumrall, and W.R. “Bill” and Nancy Knight DeLaughter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church in Bogalusa, officiated by the Rev. Joshua Smith. The service will be preceded by visitation from 10 a.m. until service time.
