Phillip Wayne Brock, 28, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his home in Hammond.

Born Feb. 17, 1985, he was a 2003 graduate of Franklinton High School, where he was in talented-art and a member of the FHS Demons basketball team. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi studying musical composition and later attended Southeastern Louisiana University. He was employed recently by Greenbrier Hospital as a psychiatric medical technician and previously worked at Brock Bit in Tylertown, Miss.

Music was a huge part of Phillip’s life and Bob Dylan was his favorite artist. He lived in New York City for a time and played in a band, Eisenhower, along with his roommates and friends. He was also a big sports fan, with Brett Favre being his favorite athlete. He loved watching movies and was always a very friendly person who never forgot a face. He was outgoing and loved visiting with the people he met. Phillip will be forever loved and sadly missed by his family and those who knew him.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Janice Simmons Penton and Earl “Punk” Penton of Madisonville; his father and stepmother, Norman and Diane Brock of Tylertown; his fiancé, Amanda Miner of Franklinton; his stepbrothers, Bryan Brock and Jewlaska Walker Jr., both of Tylertown; his stepsisters, Kimberly Stallings of Birmingham, Ala., Vanessa Walker of Tylertown and Amanda Bullock of Baton Rouge; his grandparents, Glynn Brock of Grand Junction, Colo., and Shirley Brock and Wendell Brock of Tylertown; aunts and uncles, Monica Simmons, Russell Simmons, Glenn Simmons and Peggy Brock; cousins, Hannah Simmons, Sandra Simmons and her daughter, Savannah, Glenna Simmons, Jason and Seela Simmons, Jennifer and Richard Campbell, Matthew Brock and Tammy Head; and his niece, Chelsie Brock; and nephew, Chance Johnson.

He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Kira Brock Brumfield, and his grandparents, Dudley and Jean Simmons.

Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 23 at Crain Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m. Visitation will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Joe Baugh and Rev. Jeff Sims officiating.

Pallbearers are Ryan Cotton, Greg Perea, Ryan Perea, Kyle Taylor, Matthew Brock, Jewlaska Walker Jr., Benjamin Wood and Alex Penton.
