Two qualify for both judge races

Washington Parish voters will have two choices in the race for district court judge and for appeals court judge when they go to the polls on April 6. Qualifying for the election ended Friday, with no one qualifying in Washington Parish.

The candidates for 22nd Judicial District, Division G judge are Scott Gardner, Republican, of Covington and Alan A. Zaunbrecher, Republican, of Covington.

The seat became vacant when Judge Will Crain was elected to the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal late last year.

The spot on the Court of Appeal, 1st Circuit, 3rd District, Division C became vacant in December when Judge Jefferson Davis Hughes was elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

The candidates who qualified to claim his seat are Jerry Denton, Republican, of Denham Springs and Ernest G. “Ernie” Drake Jr., Republican, of Ponchatoula.
