A Mississippi man who was apparently dumped at the Mr. Quik Car Wash on Sullivan Drive as he was dying Monday afternoon was the victim of a gunshot to the back of the head, according to Bogalusa Assistant Police Chief Rocky Gerald.

The victim was Cedric Fairly, 32, of Purvis.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death Tuesday, but the caliber of the bullet was not disclosed.

Gerald said the police have conducted interviews and are awaiting Crime Lab results for DNA and ballistics samples.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 732-6238.
