A downtown store was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday, and the Bogalusa Police Department is looking for the perpetrator.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the culprit got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The police got a call shortly after 3:30 p.m. informing them that the robbery had just taken place at Rico’s on the corner of Columbia Street and Davenport Avenue, according to Chief Joe Culpepper.

An armed gunman reportedly ran into the store and demanded money.

“They let him have it,” Culpepper said.

Witnesses provided a clothing description, and the responding officer searched the neighborhood for the culprit, but to no avail. The investigation continues.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111 or Bogalusa police detectives at 732-6238. Callers may remain anonymous, and tips to Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.
