Kevin “Ryan” Freeman, the son of Kevin Freeman and the late Dolly Rebekah Jenkins, was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on Monday, Jan. 7, and departed immediately for his 13-week basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Born in Covington, Freeman has also resided in Bogalusa and Bush, and he’s a 2012 graduate of Covington High School. While the majority of his classmates chose to enter college or go directly into the workforce, he was inspired to serve his country in the military.

Freeman, the grandson of Billy and Jane Jenkins of Bush, and Shirley Freeman of Bogalusa and the late Dewitt Freeman, has two siblings, Morgan and Brennan Freeman.
