Helen Delores Guilott Crawford Young passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Louisiana Heart Hospital at the age of 89. Born in Pearl River on March 9, 1923, Helen resided in Bush. She worked as a reading teacher assistant at Fifth Ward Junior High School for more than 20 years. She was a dedicated member of Hebron Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, secretary of the church, secretary of the church cemetery committee and an active teacher for the Women’s Missionary Union. Helen was also actively involved in volunteering for many years with the chaplains at Bogalusa Medical Center.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Donice) Crawford, Kerry (Sherry) Crawford, Keith (Dianne) Crawford, Brenda Bryant and Jerry (Brenda) Young. She is the grandmother of Kristi Crawford, Vickie Crawford Palermo, Stacy Crawford Perrone, Jason Crawford, Bradley Crawford, Kevin Crawford, Susan Crawford, Tara Bryant Powers and Kyle Young, as well as11 great-grandchildren and a very special caregiver, Donna Davis, and host of nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.

Her husbands, Monroe W. Crawford and Earnest Sam Young; a brother, Dudley Guilott; and a sister, Cora Singletary, preceded her in death.

She will be missed dearly.

Visitation was held Saturday, Jan. 26 at Hebron Baptist Church in Bush, from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral services at noon, with Rev. Tim Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hebron Baptist Church building fund.
