SEALS

Pete Seals, 82, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at his home in Thomas.

He was born Oct. 6, 1930, and was a longtime member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a former employee of Crown Zellerbach. He was retired from the Washington Parish School Board as a bus driver for Thomas School. He also was a retired, self-employed dairyman who enjoyed all the time spent working his cows.

A big sports fan, Pete especially baseball and cherished the times he watched his grandchildren in all their athletic pursuits. He also enjoyed listening and watching his son, Eli, perform. The family will always hold dear the thought of all the caring commitment their father showed to their mother during her lengthy illness.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Eddie Self of Thomas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jarone and Karen Seals, Tab and Lyn Seals and Eli Seals, all of Thomas; 12 grandchildren and spouses, Tory and Missy Self, Daylon Self, Tylan and Brittney Self, Ashley and Dennis Whiddon, Bailey Seals, Logan Seals, Shay Seals, Kyley Seals, Will and Mary Seals, Austin Seals, Eliza Seals and Bailey Prisk; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Self, Brance Self, Presley Self, John-Eric Self, Kalyn Bowling, Lathan Whiddon, Ember Conley and Mallory Golden; two expected great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethylene Hartzog of Angie; a sister-in-law, Bernice Seals of Dexter; special friends, Lucius Crain and Bobby Earl Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Knight Seals; his parents, William Eli Seals and Annie Mae Pace Seals; sisters Katie Crain and Larcie Smith; and brothers Oden Seals, Richard Seals and Marcus Seals.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 21 at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continued on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Eld. Willie J. Passman, Rev. Denny Brumfield and Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
