BARBER

Jerry Neimier Barber, 76, a resident of Franklinton, went home to be with the Lord at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Riverside Medical Center. He was born Jan. 2, 1937, and grew up in Franklinton. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1967 and began work at Allied Chemical/Paxon. After 27 years of service as a process operator, he retired in 1994 and moved back home to Franklinton. He was always a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by a loving companion and best friend of 23 years, Mary Dwire of Franklinton; three children and spouses, Jerry “Neil” and Janell Barber of Denham Springs, Greg and Jeannette Barber of Gonzales and Wendy and Ed Allen of Austin, Texas; three grandsons, Kyle Barber, Austin Barber and Christopher Allen; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Anita Barber of Franklinton; a stepsister, Virginia Bateman of Franklinton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Delon Barber and Anna Louise Corkern Barber; two sisters, Bonnie Lee Barber Corkern and Freddie Barber Estave; two brothers, Huey Barber and Dennis Wayne Barber; and two stepbrothers, Billy Ray Corkern and James Corkern

Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 21, at Crain Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Larry Archote officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery. Obituaries can be viewed online at www.crainfh.com.
