Velma Carrier Graham, 89, passed awayTuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at her residence in Bogalusa.

Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Bogalusa, she was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church and a former Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, James Rudolph Graham of Bogalusa; one daughter, Carolyn (James) Spears of Bogalusa; one son, Leon (Kathy) Graham of Bogalusa; a daughter-in-law, Viki Graham of Bogalusa; three sisters, Ollie Smith of Lucedale, Miss., Shirley Pittman of Cheraw, Miss., and Jo Ann (John) Mitchell of Bogalusa; three brothers, Louis (Dale) Carrier, Olin (Helga) Carrier and Rodney Carrier, all of Bogalusa; seven grandchildren, George (Anna) Wolbrecht III, Graham Wolbrecht, Candice Stewart, James (Aleta) Spears II, Leigh Anne Graham, Michah Graham and Kristen Graham; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ann Wolbrecht; one son, Archie Ray Graham; one sister, Doris Narretto; and three brothers, Elbert “Blinker” Carrier, Gilbert Sydney Carrier and Gary Lynn Carrier.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church from noon until the time for the funeral service at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Pete Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
